The following is a report from witnesses living in the South Devon area of England.
The event took place in the same region.
Although this report was compiled some years after the event, the stories appear to corroborate the details given - on separate occasions - by those involved.

In March, early spring, 1979, a young Mr. L was travelling toward school at approximately 8.30am. He was accompanied by his mother, her friend Rose and Rose's two little girls.
Suddenly Rose exclaimed "Look at that!" and pointed up into the bright, frosty, sky. Mr. L looked westward toward the local electronics manufacturing plant and saw something apparently hovering above it at an approximate altitude of 100ft (30m).
The object was described as looking like a green fireball about the size of Mr. L's thumb when looked at from a distance of 800 yards (240m) or so. Some patches of the green seemed brighter than the others and the object was observed to be spinning rapidly.
Both Mr. L and Rose are reported to have stared at the object in an almost trance-like state and whilst doing so, walked forward into the middle of what is usually a very busy, main road. Incredibly, not a single vehicle was seen to pass in either direction.
Despite her best efforts, Mr. L's mother was unable to elicit any response from the two observers until around two minutes after the initial sighting.
The object itself had accelerated away at incredible speed after the first minute. Mr. L states that he has no recollection of continuing to stare after the object had departed.
Unfortunately, due to the length of time which had passed between the sighting and the report, no further witnesses were found to corroborate the statements given.
